Project Summary
On Sydney Dr in Fort Collins, we have recently poured a reinforced concrete slab to support a new home addition. Unlike patios or driveways, additional slabs must be built to strict standards so they can safely carry all the weight of new living space. This project required solving a sloped yard, working around tight access for equipment, and preparing a surface that would accept durable foam insulation panels before the structure was built.

The homeowner wanted a durable slab that would:

What We Did
Excavation & Grading
Our team carefully excavated and compacted the sloped area to ensure stability. Proper grading was critical to align and attach the new slab with the home’s existing foundation.
Forming & Reinforcement
- Built tight forms to match the additional footprint.
- Installed #3 rebar on a grid for foundation and structure strength.
- Dowels were tied into the existing house foundation to create a strong connection.
Concrete Pour
- Used 4000 PSI fiber-reinforced concrete from a reputable cement plant located in Loveland, the best choice for structural slabs in Fort Collins.
- Because of limited access, our crew managed a staged pour, distributing the mix evenly.
- Laser-leveled the surface for precision, ensuring the foam panels could be installed seamlessly.
Finishing & Durability
- Added proper control joints to prevent concrete cracking .
- Smoothed and edged the slab, leaving it ready for the next stage of construction.
