Sidewalk Install Project on Greenbrook Dr, Windsor, CO

Preparing slope and AC pad before new concrete patio pour in Loveland CO

Connecting Driveway to Backyard Patio with Precision and Care

When our team arrived at this home on Greenbrook Dr in Windsor to start the project, this homeowner had one clear goal: create a clean, functional sidewalk that connects the front driveway to the back patio without damaging the existing landscaping or fence panels. What looked like a simple request turned out to be a tight space challenge that required attention to details, specialized equipment, and a lot of hands-on precision.

Project Overview

This Windsor property had a narrow side yard filled pretty much with loose rock, uneven ground, and minimal access between the house and the neighboring fence. Our plan was to design and pour a new concrete sidewalk that would:

  • Extend  from the driveway to the backyard patio

  • Improve accessibility and drainage

  • Match the home’s exterior design and slope

  • Stay durable through Windsor’s seasonal freeze–thaw cycles

By combining technical skill, careful excavation, and compact finishing, we delivered a project that blended strength, longevity, and visual balance.

Challenges Faced on Site

Every concrete job has its own challenges, and this one pushed our problem-solving experience to the test:

  1. Extremely Tight Access – The narrow pathway left no room for standard machinery.
  2. Uneven Ground & Rocks – The area was layered with decorative stone that had to be removed before grading.
  3. Ground Stability – The sub-base was soft in areas due to years of runoff, demanding deep compaction for structural integrity.
  4. Precision Work Near Foundation & Fence – Every inch mattered to prevent cracking or water pooling against the home.

Our Approach

  • To overcome these challenges, our crew relied on expert planning and small-scale excavation tools suited for residential tight spaces.
      • Step 1 – Preparation
Cleared the entire pathway, removed rocks, and graded the soil. We compacted the base with recycled road-base material to improve strength and reduce settling.
      • Step 2 – Excavation with Walk-Behind Bobcat
Instead of heavy machinery, we used our Bobcat walk-behind mini-excavator, perfect for narrow residential corridors. This allowed safe access without damaging fencing or landscaping.
      • Step 3 – Forming the Walkway
Curved forms were carefully installed to create a natural flow connecting both outdoor areas. The layout was designed to ensure proper drainage and symmetry.
      • Step 4 – Pouring & Finishing
Fresh fiber-reinforced concrete (4000 PSI) was poured, hand-tooled, and finished with a smooth broom texture for slip resistance and clean lines.
      • Step 5 – Clean-Up & Detailing
Decorative rocks were replaced neatly along both sides, leaving a professional, polished look that tied the front and back spaces together.

The Results

The finished result was outstanding — a smooth, durable sidewalk that now connects the driveway directly to the backyard patio. The pathway looks as though it was part of the home’s original design, blending functionality with curb appeal.
Homeowners were thrilled to see how a previously unused strip of yard became a safe, convenient walkway for everyday use and backyard entertaining.
