Stamped & Colored Patio With Steps and Border in Fort Collins, CO
- Completed Autumn 2025
- Autumn Harvest Way, Fort Collins, CO
Project Overview
This stamped and colored concrete patio project on Autumn Harvest Way in Fort Collins was designed and planned to transform a complex backyard space into a beautiful, functional outdoor living area. The homeowners requested a decorative stamped patio with stylish steps and a colored border that would add both style and long-term value to their backyard.
Our goal was to create a clean, eye-catching patio that blended naturally with the landscape while focusing on major site challenges that required specialized equipment, advanced preparation, and precise execution.
The Challenges
Limited Backyard Access – This backyard was located too far from the main street for a regular concrete pump truck to reach. The required hose extensions would have exceeded safe operating distance for this type of pour.
Soft, Unstable Soil Conditions – The soil was too soft and basically useless for any construction project, which created a high risk of future shifting and cracking if not replaced.
Steep Ground & Elevation Changes – The ground sloped significantly, which required proper grading and a step solution to ensure safe access and proper drainage.
Equipment Limitations – Because of the long distance from the street to the backyard access, we had to bring in a specialized motorized concrete buggy to safely transport concrete without compromising quality or any delay.
Our Process
Consultation & Design Planning – During the initial consultation, we evaluated access limitations, soil conditions, existing slope, and layout. The homeowners selected one of our premium stamped patterns with a rich color finish and a contrasting colored border to define the patio edges and steps.
Topsoil Removal & Soil Stabilization – All unstable and bad topsoil was excavated and removed. We poured fresh, compactable base material and compacted it thoroughly to create a strong, long-lasting foundation.
Grading & Step Engineering – Because of the current steep terrain, we properly regraded the area and built a properly engineered step system for safe transitions between elevation changes.
Concrete Delivery With Motorized Buggy – Due to the challenging distance from the street, we used a motorized buggy to transport concrete efficiently while maintaining proper consistency and pour timing.
Reinforcement & Pour – We installed the proper reinforcement where required and poured a premium 4500 psi concrete mix designed for durability and decorative applications.
Stamping, Coloring & Border Detailing – Once the concrete was poured and finished, the patio was stamped with the selected pattern, colored evenly, and finished with a contrasting decorative border for visual definition and curb appeal.
Final Detailing & Clean-Up – Control joints were cut for proper expansion control to avoid any future cracks, the surface was sealed a week later, and the job site was fully cleaned so the homeowners could immediately enjoy their new space.
