Driveway & City Sidewalk Replacement in Loveland, CO
- Completed: August 2025
- Loveland, CO
Project Overview
This project we completed on Markham Court in Loveland started with the kind of referral we value most: a happy neighbor. Just about 3 days earlier, we had completed a beautiful decorative curved patio next door. That homeowner was so impressed with the design and craftsmanship that they recommended us to their neighbors across the fence. Four days later, we were contacted about a driveway replacement and city sidewalk repair, and within five days of that call, our crew was on-site to start the work.
The homeowner originally wanted to repair the cracks in their existing driveway by using cement caulking and replacing the city sidewalk. However, after a thorough inspection, we explained that the slab was too worn out and uneven for patching to hold up. For safety, longevity, and overall value, a full replacement was the best choice. They agreed, and the project moved forward.
The Challenges
- Cracked & Unsafe Driveway – The driveway had large cracks, sinking, and uneven areas that created safety hazards.
- City Sidewalk Replacement – This project required compliance with Loveland City Code for sidewalks, including slope, grading, and width requirements.
- Soil Preparation – The ground was extremely hard-packed, which meant extra compaction work was needed to create a stable foundation for the new concrete to be poured in.
Our Process
- Consultation & Estimate – During our initial walkthrough, we discussed the risks of surface-level repairs and explained why replacement would save money and frustration in the long run. We provided a clear, itemized digital estimate with no hidden fees, which gave the homeowners peace of mind to hire us for the project.
- Tear-Out & Haul-Away – Our crew carefully removed the failing driveway and city sidewalk section using professional equipment. All old concrete and debris was hauled off and sent for proper recycling in Windsor to reduce waste.
- Base Preparation – We excavated to the correct depth, installed a recycled concrete base, and compacted the soil three times for maximum stability — a step that most homeowners never see, but one that makes all the difference in how long concrete lasts in Loveland’s soil conditions.
- Reinforcement & Pour – Installed commercial-grade #3 metal rebar , tying it securely into the sidewalk for structural strength. Then poured a premium 4,000 PSI concrete mix, monitored carefully for temperature and timing to match Colorado’s climate conditions.
- City Sidewalk Installation – The sidewalk was replaced in full compliance with City of Loveland standards and requirements, ensuring long-term safety, accessibility, and approval during inspection.
- Finishing & Detailing – We broom-finished the surface for traction, cut precise control joints to guide natural expansion, and cleaned the job site thoroughly so the homeowners could immediately see the transformation we made.
Walkaway Makeover: Before & After
Results
In just two days, the project was complete. The new driveway is smooth, level, and built to handle daily vehicle use for decades. The sidewalk passed inspection without issue and ties seamlessly into the property for a clean look.
What began as a cracked, unsafe slab is now a strong and attractive entryway that adds both safety and curb appeal to the home. Even better, it came through a referral from a satisfied neighbor, which is how we earn most of our work in Loveland and nearby cities— by delivering results that homeowners are proud to share.
Homeowner Feedback
The homeowners were extremely happy with the speed, professionalism, and quality of the work. They appreciated the clear recommendation to replace instead of patching, and were relieved to see the care taken in preparing the soil and reinforcing the slab. On a hot summer day, they even offered our crew cold drinks while we worked, a nice gesture that meant a lot to our crew and reminded us why we value building real relationships with homeowners, not just pouring concrete.
