Home Addition Slab on Sydney Dr in Fort Collins, CO
On Sydney Drive we poured the slab for a new home addition. A slab that carries living space has to be built to a tighter standard than a patio or driveway, and this one came with a sloped yard and tight access for equipment.

Project details
- Location: Fort Collins, CO
- Completed: September 2025
- Service: Home addition slab
- Reinforcement: #3 rebar on a grid, with dowels into the existing foundation
- Concrete: 4000 PSI with fiber, from a plant in Loveland
- Pour: Staged, because of limited access
- Finish: Laser leveled, smoothed and edged
Design goals
The slab had to tie into the existing house foundation without settling, give the framing crew a level and square base, work with the foam insulation panels the addition was designed around, and stand up to freeze and thaw.
How we did it
- Excavated and compacted the sloped area so the new slab would line up with the house's foundation.
- Built tight forms to the addition's footprint and tied #3 rebar on a grid.
- Tied dowels into the existing foundation to lock the old and new concrete together.
- Poured a 4000 PSI fiber-reinforced mix in stages, since access was too tight to place it all at once.
- Laser leveled the surface, cut control joints, and smoothed and edged the slab for the next trade.
The result
The addition sits on a level, reinforced slab tied into the original house, finished on schedule despite the slope and tight access. Structural slabs like this are part of our foundation work; browse more of our recent work for other projects.
