Stamped Patio with Steps and Border on Autumn Harvest Way in Fort Collins, CO
The homeowners on Autumn Harvest Way wanted a decorative stamped patio with steps and a colored border. Their backyard sat too far from the street for a pump truck, the soil was soft, and the ground dropped steeply away from the house.

The challenge
A pump hose long enough to reach the backyard would have run past its safe operating distance. The topsoil was too soft to build on, and the slope meant the patio needed steps for safe access and proper drainage.
How we did it
- Planned the layout around the access, soil and slope, and the homeowners chose a stamped pattern, a rich color and a contrasting border.
- Dug out the soft topsoil, brought in compactable base material and compacted it.
- Regraded the slope and built an engineered step system between the levels.
- Brought the concrete to the backyard with a motorized buggy, keeping its consistency and timing right.
- Placed reinforcement where it was needed and poured a 4500 PSI mix.
- Stamped and colored the patio, finished the border, cut control joints and sealed it a week later.
The result
